Hiring Benefit Eligible Employees

If you want to hire someone into a benefit eligible position in which there has never been an employee before, then you must first go through the process of creating the position.  A PCQ (position classification questionnaire) has to be filled out by the faculty member, forwarded to Mike Bent at bentm@missouri.edu in the fiscal office, and he will forward it to the human resources office.  The PCQ can be found on the human resource website at http://hrs.missouri.edu.  Choose the “Forms & Guidelines” tab in the middle of the page, and then choose hiring.  The PCQ will be under the “Staff request, classify or reclassify a position” section.  A copy of the PCQ will remain in the Division fiscal office.  At the present time Bonnie Gregg is our contact in Human Resources.  She receives the PCQ, reviews it and either approves it or denies it.  If she has any questions concerning the position, she will contact the faculty member directly.  Once the position is approved, it will be assigned a position number.

If you are hiring someone into a benefit eligible position that already exists, this is where you begin.

The next step is to fill out a personnel requisition, requesting to fill the position that you have created.  This is done on-line as well.  Go to the human resource website http://hrs.missouri.edu and choose the “Forms & Guides” tab in the middle of the page.  Click on hiring.  The staff job requisition will be under the “Staff request, classify, or reclassify a position” section.  Once you have completed the personnel requisition it needs sent as an e-mail attachment to Mike Bent at bentm@missouri.edu.  Mike will work with human resources to get the job posted on their website and serve as the point of contact between the hiring manager and the human resource office.

Applications for your positions may be viewed through the on-line hiring system.  Coordination of your offer should be through Mike Bent.   He will need the name of the person you wish to hire, their start date and the salary you would like to offer.  He will also need their contact information; either a phone number or an e-mail address, for the criminal background check process.  Mike will work with human resources to get approval on the offer and coordinate all the necessary paperwork to get the employee into the system in a timely manner.  Please remember a candidate may not begin work until their offer is approved and all their paperwork has been completed.
